What We Want: Property of the Week - Atherton
/We're in Atherton again this week, peeking in on an off-market property located at 150 Almendral. Sitting on roughly 2 acres, this modern meets traditional home was built four years ago by Pacific Peninsula Builders and features over 13,000 square feet of living space plus a 1,004 square foot guest house and a tennis pavilion.
This three level home is serviced by an elevator and includes 6 bedroom suites, 2 offices, 7 full baths, and 1 half-bath. Additionally, there is a 1 bedroom 1 bathroom guest house with kitchen, a library, project room/art studio, an upstairs family room, a rec room, theater, wine cellar, fitness center and indoor golf stimulator.
The entrance to the home is impressive. The landscaping is beautifully done an enhances the overall aesthetic of the house. Natural grasses and reflecting pools punctuate the front entrance. Once inside the all-glass front doors, you'll find an impressive foyer featuring a cut-glass chandelier, radiant-heated floors (throughout the first level of the home), and a cantilevered floating staircase, outlined in clear glass.
The kitchen is what you'd expect in a home of this size and stature. Hones and leathered Taj Mahal marble counters with a backsplash that reaches the ceiling, an expansive island with seating, a desk, and a pantry. Of course, the home has top-of-the-line appliances including a Wolf range with grill, griddle, four burners, 2 full ovens, a pot filler, Wolf microwave, 2 Miele dishwashers, 2 Sub-Zero refrigerator drawers, and 2 full Sub-Zero refrigerator/freezers.
We absolutely love the family room area and can image time spent here with families. With a paneled cathedral ceiling and retractable into-the-wall glass doors, this space is open and airy. Included in this area, you'll find a bar featuring 2 Sub-Zero refrigerator drawers, wine cooler, and an ice maker. Glass windows here open to the loggia for true indoor/outdoor entertaining.
We'd love to lay down for the night in the master bedroom. It's a lush, relaxing environment and includes a sitting room with coffee bar, rfrigerator, dishwasher drawer, and sink. We die over the sky-lit closet with island (plus another closet), and love the master bath (curbless steam shower for two, two commode rooms, and a free-standing tub).
While all of the bedrooms in the house are beautiful, we would love to have the bunk room in our homes. This sound-proof room with 4 built-in bunk beds is perfect for any sleepover. Whoever designed this room clearly has kids.
The outside area was designed for California living at its best. Pool, spa, tennis court, USGA 3-hole putting green and bunker, fenced dog run, outdoor kitchen, sunken fire pit surrounded with built-in seating, and heated and covered loggias.
Located in the heart of Silicon Valley, this home has an Elan smart home automation system with iPad docking stations for control of audio/visual (11 televisions, home theater, and both inside and outside speakers), Lutron lighting system, climate settings, and security.
This home is offered through Mary Gullixson with Alain Pinel Realtors and the home website may be found here.
